Northern Tears Giclee Prints

$250.00

Giclee prints are for purchase here on my website for the first time to the public since I created “Northern Tears.”

Giclee prints of “Northern Tears” were printed on Arches archival watercolour paper to closely resemble the original painting. Each Giclee print is individually signed by me, no two are exactly the same to give a personal touch. Prints are 23” x 23” in size and are not framed.

Each Giclee print is $250.00 unframed including GST. Free shipping is included. Prints will be shipped via Canada Post. A tracking number will be e-mailed to customer once payment is received and print is shipped. Please ensure you provide a current e-mail address for updates on your purchase when prompted at check out.

The Inukshuk was taken from a photo of the Inukshuk build by 3 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Afghanistan for the four fallen soldiers killed in friendly fire and all coalition soldiers in 2002. The poppy is a symbol of Remembrance. The tears on the poppy in my painting are for all the tears shed by all the families and friends for all soldiers killed. The black background is for the empty void we feel for all fallen soldiers.

I met the families of the four fallen soldiers in 2002 at the Canada Remembers Air Show in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. My husband Billy (MWO Bolen) with three other soldiers skydived into the Air Show to represent the four fallen soldiers. I wanted to create a painting to remember the fallen soldiers so I told the families of my idea at the time. Nothing happened for a few years until 2006 when I came up with the idea for my painting “Northern Tears” which was completed on New Year’s Day, 2007.

Since then I have given Giclee prints free of charge to primary next of kin of Canadian soldiers who died in Afghanistan. Billy has coordinated with the units to ensure anyone who requested a print of “Northern Tears” received one from us usually via Canada Post but at special times I have given prints to families in person.

My original “Northern Tears” painting 23” x 23” was created with watercolour pencils on archival watercolour paper. I gave my original “Northern Tears” painting to Billy.

I have donated “Northern Tears” Giclee prints to many causes and organizations (in addition to families of the fallen who have requested one):
